Letter to Ilana by Shiran Siboni - 11th Grade

My dear friend Ilana,                                                                                                              First, I would like to know how you are.

I know that the situation you are in isnt easy, however, in my opinion it is not as difficult as you describe it. There are things which can be solved by talking and without any arguments. I cant offer here an easy solution but I can express my opinion.

I think you ought to try and overcome your obsession to Alex Gideon. You know that his love for you is long gone but you go on loving him for no obvious reason. (Maybe its desire).

If I may add, you can try to be in touch with him, not just through letters. You share a son and that alone is a good enough reason for the two of you to stay in touch. A child needs to see that his parents support each other even though they are no longer together. Both parents have to show their child they love and care for him as if they have never separated.

Therefore, I think you should renew your contacts with Alec and then youll see how your life goes much more smoothly. I sit here at home, thinking about you. I am writing to you what is in my heart. I want you, my friend, to be happy, I want to support you as much as I can so you feel better with yourself.

Dont let Michelle worry you about Alec because it has nothing to do with him. You two have Yifat and you and Alec have Boaz. There is no connection between Michelle and Alex, they come from two different worlds.

I hope that one day, you will be able to put everything behind you and move on with your lives the way they were destined to.

For closure, I would like to wish you all the best, both with Alec and Michelle. Who knows, maybe one day the three of you will be able to meet and discuss what had happened and maybe even laugh about it.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Hope to see you soon- miss you!

Your friend

Varda
